Purpose The Conference aims at creating a forum for researchers from both China and EU to discuss the relationship between European economic integration and the evolution and development of related-EU laws and policies (especially in the field of environmental planning and protection).

Topics The topics of this conferences focus on the relationship between European economic integration and EU laws and policies especially in the field of environmental planning and protection. The following issues (but not limited to) are especially welcome:
I The Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe
II The external relations law of the EU
III Lessons of implementation of laws and policies of the EU on environmental planning and protection in the context of European economic integration
IV The enlargement of the EU and Application of laws and policies of the EU on environmental planning and protection in new members
V Comparative study on regulatory & economic instruments of environmental planning and protection between China and EU
VI Comparative study on disputes settlement mechanism in the field of environmental planning and protection between China and EU
VII Comparative study on legal responsibilities system of environmental planning and protection between China and EU
Participants 6 European Scholars, and 30 Chinese Scholars, officers, enterprisers and interested participants engaged in EU Law and EU environmental planning and protection
Paper Submission Both theoretically oriented and empirical papers will be considered. Papers in English are preferable.
Conference language is English.
Interested scholars are asked to submit an abstract (500 words) or a draft paper to Prof. Dr. QIN Tianbao or Mr. ZHOU Zitao as attached files to the following email address: tianbaoq@hotmail.com or wucentre@whu.edu.cn by May 31, 2006.
The abstract/paper should state the affiliation, academic rank, mailing and email addresses, and phone and fax numbers.
The selection procedure will be concluded by June 30, 2006, and authors whose papers are accepted will receive an acceptance letter by email or post.
Authors accepted shall send their final paper no later than September 30, 2006.
It is envisage that a number of selected papers will be published in a conference proceedings by a Chinese publishing house.
Financial Support For all participants whose papers are accepted, the Conference organizer will cover the travel expense and accommodation expense for three days surrounding the conference
NO further expenditures can be reimbursed. NO honorarium will be paid
